from Columbia University in 1978 (when he was also made a member
of Phi Beta Kappa), and his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stanford
University in 1988. He was an assistant professor of Computer
Science at Rutgers University from 1984 through 1994; at Rutgers,
he was an award-winning
teacher, and a world-renowned leader and project manager in
the area of Artificial Intelligence. He has published numerous
